I'm currently listening to Moondog's self-titled album - Moondog (1969). This is one of the best albums I've heard in quite some time. Moondog (aka Louis Thomas Hardin) was a blind composer, musician and inventor. From the late 1940's until 1974, Moondog lived as a street musician in New York City. He was famous for his elaborate "Viking" costumes, which he wore often. This album includes an orchestra of over 40 musicians, with Moondog writing and arranging all of the music. The album incorporates elements of jazz and classical music, with a heavy emphasis on percussion - it's a very rhythmic album. Check it out.
